Deborah’s responsibilities currently include, but are not limited to, leadership of the  credit and continuing education for fifteen program areas in Advanced Technologies (Computer Integrated Machining, Welding, Industrial Systems Technology), Truck Driver Training, Heavy Equipment Transportation, IT, and Business, Office and Medical Administration. She is creating an Advanced Technology Center at the college.  She is also the PI for an NSF ATE grant. 

From 2009-2014 Deborah worked for Haywood Community College as the Interim Workforce Director and Dean of Advanced Technologies.  She oversaw the operation of the Regional High Technology Center, one of the founding members of the NCATC. 

From 1995–2009 Deborah worked for the North Carolina State University, Industrial Extension Service as Director, Lean Enterprise Advancement Program, and earlier as Sales Account Manager for western North Carolina.

From 1991-1995 she served as Industry and Workforce Development, A-B Technical Community College (Asheville, NC).  Contract and continuing education for area manufacturers to identify and develop quality related programs to meet their needs.   

And, from 1990-1991 Deborah served as Industry and Workforce Development Coordinator at Central Carolina Community College (Sanford, NC). 

Deborah began her career at Westinghouse designing and testing Motor Control Centers in Pittsburgh, PA; Asheville, NC; Coamo, PR; and Fayetteville, NC.

Deborah holds the following degrees: Ed.D., Community College Leadership, Western Carolina University; M.S., Electrical Engineering, Carnegie-Mellon University; B.A., Physics, Mount Holyoke College.
